RE: EETIMES
Despite the shift to AMD, Dell has been losing market share,.. Now that's just bad grammar.

Yea, we've know for a year that DELL's own sales force has been asking for Opteron. Not just 4P Opterons, but the whole line. DELL's sales force still can only tell its customers no AMD 1P or 2P servers and you will have to wait 6 months for 4P. ... That'll ring the cash registers.

"DELL is scrambling to embrace AMD..." Show me the products.
Show me the road map beyond 4P.

The issue on the table is whether DELL is serious about AMD products over the long term or is just a furiously flapping bird distracting the analyst dogs at the earnings announcement.

Is there any evidence that AMD knew DELL would make this announcement at this time? Hector has speculated/hinted that DELL would become a customer, but he's been saying that for two years. The hints have been a little stronger of late and maybe that's all I/we could expect.

OTOH, nothing about DELL's announcent on the afternoon of 5/18 seems well thought out.
