Vitamin E and C work together. When something de-oxidizes something or reduces, it oxidizes itself. E and the bioflavonoids restore C and A from their oxidized state so that they can work again. In turn some of the bioflavonoids restore C catalytically to its state.

E is the best and safest preservative. Often used in foods to keep them fresh.

The bioflavonoids are the secret weapon. Find a coloured fruit or carbohydrate and you have found a flavone. They are more plentiful in fruit than C by far. In 1928, Szent-Gyorgy found that they, not C, prevented scurvy. Limes have only 28 mgs of C per serving, but are loaded with bioflavonoids. They were what saved british sailors from scurvy, not C.

A co conspirator with E in promoting arterial health is L-Arginine which has the effect of reducing and reversing arterial plaque, whilst not reducing cholesterol! Given the choice of taking lipitor or eating limes, arginine, and E, the choice is a no brainer. I know the path to health lies with the vitamins and not starving the system of necessary cholesterol. In fairness to the statins I believe that their unknown function that inhibits heart attack and stroke may lie in their ability to inhibit cholesterol oxidization and platelet aggregation. It is cholestorol oxide that plaques out, not cholesterol in itself. In this, arginine, Nitrous Oxide (from arginine) and E are superior, so should have the same or better effect and inhibit monocyte fixing too ( an important part of plaque formation.) The discoveries of E and Arginine in blood thinning and de-ox are only about 1-2 years old, so don't expect the medical community to be onside until the next decade.
