The difference is the Germans, Italians, Chinese, Irish, Koreans, VietNamese, and all the other groups that came to the US DID NOT ILLEGALLY push their way into the US. The Mexicans who are flooding in now, are not welcome. They can go back and come in the LEGAL way, IF we have room....

I don't know that that is necessarily true.
My mother and her family emigrated from Italy in the 30's.
They all learned English. My mom and aunt do not have a trace of an accent. My grandparents learned both English and Spanish.

I haven't noticed what you described at all in the larger extended family.
