Brian, even though you don't have anyone and everyone playing the stock market it does not mean no one cares. I know you know this so forgive me for stating the obvious as I so often do.

I'm reminding myself as much as you or anyone for that matter so please don't be offended.

There are ways to measure sentiment better than judging the perceived level of apathy and or pessimism. In fact at some point even if levels of apathy or outright pessimism rise to heights never seen before the market will rally and some people will make lots of money.

I've already got a plan in place to make money off the next long term trading bottom. I'm counting on real pessimism to take over for apathy to help me determine when that has happened. I hope that you and others here will have enough cash available to buy stocks here when that bottom is put in.

AMAT may not be the best sector play from the actual bottom but if you use options and or spread your risk into other higher beta stocks there will be plenty of money to be made here in this sector.

Just be sure to take profits because these stocks will likely rise for perhaps only 12 to 15 months after that bottom before institutional investors look for better returns elsewhere.
