Always wondered why the flexibility of limbs & suppleness we have from infancy is somehow lost as we translate our bodies along into age ....why would such a great advantage of our physical conditioning need ever be lost ? (or the mind )

Heard it said that one of the highest forms of spiritual expression is that of "dance", usually equates with being alive in our society , and staying connected & alive in the dance rituals of older tribal societies . That was from the lips of one of the most noted teachers of Hinduism in the 2oth century , who was himself a ballet dancer in his youth .

Love to see any good ballet on earth , and never really ever met a "dumb" dancer.<g

Buddha prolly liked the dance too.... time to stretch !

the whole purpose of evolution IS increased awareness

Why should we imagine evolution has a purpose?

Awareness is practically the entire quest of Buddhist psychology... probably Western Psychology as well.

While both pursuits do work with our awareness I believe that there is a significant difference in their goals. My understanding is that up t ill now, but this is changing rapidly in some quarters, Western Psychology has largely focused on the ability to manage negative afflictions while the Buddhist practices are designed to go much further in two respects. Firstly they aim to ultimately eliminate these negative states altogether and then to consciously develop the positive aspects of the mind much further than would be normal under traditional (Freudian) western therapy. It seems more useful to think of awareness as a tool rather than as the object of a quest in and of itself.
