Totally agree.

I can buy any car I want. Currently driving a 10-yr old Honda Civic HX, average 34 mpg in real driving. Including a lot of stop-and-go on Silicon Valley freeways.

If I can help the planet any better way, and still hold down my job, I will. But considering the costs already sunk into construction of the car, I doubt there's any reasonable more earth-friendly solution.

If I want to drive a Hummer, and I am paying for the gas etc (regardless of current price), why is it anyone elses business to even suggest I change ?

Wow, FOR SHAME! Doing something decent for the planet (and for other living creatures) is suddenly cool and it does not take (read the article) $10 gallon/gasoline to make it cost effective.

OMG. Alert the media. What a terrible, terrible thing to do...something for others and for the future.

Stop trying to be such a regressive, it's no longer in fashion.
