Re: Balkanization It seems difficult to have strong cultural identity in a multi-cultural setting. To be Israel, it must stay a Jewish state. The various Islamic states have the same problem: They want to stay Islamic, and of a particular flavor to boot. The alternate approach is the America way, the melting pot, where you forge a new cultural identity. In our case, it is in flux once again with Hispanic influence now, and look at all the screaming that causes.
