If there really were a god he would create a reverse Google, one that you could ask to give you the word for or name of something that you describe at length, for example, the name of the guy from someplace out west who once ran for president, was a scratch golfer, and married his high school sweetheart.

That's exactly the way I use Google. I am very good at composing Boolean search terms that contain the information I can remember so it pops out the name.

My "name remembering" node in my brain was never very good and is now completely on the fritz, but I remember the kind of details you describe.
