When the OEM-Story (no further discounts) is true (I assume still discounts, but not that huge as before, think of DELL), edit: (now, its clear why DELL is also on board ... I'm smelling Desktops too (faster), as written before - no no MASSIVE 50% DELL discounts anymore - she isn't pretty ...) than the price-cuts are by far incredible. Take in mind, that Intels OEMs sales are HUGE HUGE HUGE. And we know, that all the BIG BOYS got heavy discounts, otherwise they couldn't sell some stuff that cheap. So, when you factor this out and we leave only a small additional volume margin, overall the net effect (new cuts) seems not that big. I was ALWAYS a "believer" in Andy Bryant ;-) , and I think its his biggest TASK to hold overall ASPs relativly stable. So whats the story, the existing high 6xx prices (official) aren't in place for OEMs, these OEMs get already huge discounts for 8xx, so that they could move this crap and Celeron is a dude, also here you could see more hidden discounts. In the end, the "NEW List" reflects the past action only that it is now VISIBLE to EVERYONE. ;-) Edit: For AMD nearly the same is going on. Everyone looks at the official price-lists. I have written a few distri prices here from time to time and EVERYONE could easily and clearly see, that FOREMOST the TRAYS are WAY WAY cheaper than list prices. Everyone would be a "fool" if he/she believes in AMD price- lists. BTW: its also easy to see just by math - make a few MIX assumptions and calculate the ASP. AGAIN, EVERYONE would EASILY!!! see, that ASPs under 100$ (AMD now) aren't possible. From the lists AMD should do 120-130$ or MORE. So I will leave it here - its easy the understand whats going on.# BUGGI
