Seems to me I recall that Jordan, with the agreement of the Palestinian leadership of the day, annexed the West Bank in 1948. Yet, few people called them "occupiers"... Jordan does not occupy the West Bank. Then they got their butts kicked when they launched a war against the Israelis in 1967, despite Israel pleading with them NOT TO intervene in the conflict between Israel and Egypt. And they forfeited that territory as a result, and millions of Palestinians were forced into occupation because Jordan would not make peace. (which they finally did in 1994). The blacks of southern Africa signed significant fractions of their land over to various white groups in the 1800's, then fought and lost various wars, which the whites would have been happy to avoid if the blacks had just not minded the continued incursions of more and more foreigners into their ancestral home. The whites eventually came to rule most the country, with selected pockets set aside for black self governance. The wealth and ingenuity of the whites resulted in modern countries and economies in both S. Africa and Rhodesia, much as Jewish wealth and ingenuity has done in Israel. Does this mean that whites should still control the place? Do you think that Israel deserves to keep the occupied territories by right of conquest?Best part?? West Bank?? Considering that most of the West Bank that wasn't already populated by Arabs was developed and populated by the Israelis, it seems to make sense that they are not going to just leave without appropriate compensation. Yes, the best part. The Jordan valley has good Ag land and water. Could you find a map that shows what Israel's intent is with the eastern border of the West Bank? Thus, Israel has every right to dole out its own arrangement, ON ITS TERMS, to deal with unoccupied territories in the West Bank if the Palestinians are intent on preserving a state of hostilities and uprising in areas outside of the Palestinian Authority: Once again, could you apply this logic to the situation in South Africa, where the ANC was a terrorist organization which fought a war with the law and order whites who also had dominion from a long history of treaties and success in wars with the rebellious blacks of that region. I think that's a pretty smart idea. It's a chance for the Palestinian people to express any "second thoughts" about having elected Hamas to power. I agree, that is a positive development IMO.The bottom line.. the Palestinians need to quit screwing around and get serious about making peace. Because that wall the Israelis are putting up will become the equivalent of a psychological barrier to further Israeli concessions. It will also become a hallmark of Jewish culture for all the world to see.
