YOu are right Israel is not obligated by international law to return anything to the pals but the issue as you know is larger than that and has implications for the entire WOT, not to mention israels own overriding interest of long term security.

Of course it there is a larger issue. But it takes both primary parties in any conflict to make peace.

And the Palestinians have shown little intent towards such a goal. Rather, every action on their part, thus far, indicates that any state they are permitted to create will be at war with Israel.

And no one has the right to obligate a reluctant occupying government to be a party towards creating a hostile entity on their borders.

The Palestinians need to show "good faith" by recognizing Israel and a two-state solution. Then they can progress with future negotiations related to the final borders and status of settlements, including the possibility that Jewish settlers would have the option of transferring their citizenship to the new state, or selling their homes to Palestinians.

But as it stands right now Jews are not permitted to own property within the Palestinian Authority, and there has ALWAYS been a long-standing policy from the time of Jordanian control, that selling property to a Jew was a capital offence.

Btw, Gaza has been a test-bed for a future Palestinian state. There are no Isrealis living there. Yet, we still see Gaza being used as a base for conducting attacks against Israel.

So yes.. there is a larger issue at stake here.. Whether any future Palestinian state will be one that can live at peace with Israel, or whether it is only a facade for continuing the agenda of wiping Israel off the map.
