Industry is forced to be efficient. This is typical of the public, it is always someone else who needs to do the heavy lifting. Through your electric bills you will be paying huge sums over the years for modest incremental emissions improvements. Whereas the politicians are loath to provide you with the truth that the same gains can be had for pennies on the dollar through personal choices. Smaller homes, less discretionary travel, more efficient vehicles, etc.
