Re: Don't you find it "laughable" how Intel pushes the press to release benches way before launch? Seems like AMD has to make the same with FX64/66 and/or Quad Core.

Desperate Moves the last times - Intel has to feel their MSS swimming away .... *ggg*

Of course it is laughable. Intel is desperate. K8 killed Netburst. It is a great accomplishment for AMD.

However, Intel's failure doesn't necessarily translate into a win for AMD longs. I predicted that this year could be lose-lose for AMD and Intel shareholders. How are we doing so far? THEN = March 11, 2006

Intel THEN: 19.85
Intel NOW : 18.22

AMD THEN: 36.63
AMD NOW : 31.63

Laughable? I find it clever.

Given that AMD owns the high-end of the consumer desktop market, Intel arguably hurts AMD more than themselves by releasing Conroe benchmarks early and repeatedly. The only folks aware of this info when considering a current purchase will be enthusiasts, and virtually none of them would by Netburst tech. They might have bought AM2 tech this quarter into July, had Intel not made clear than Conroe is a K8-killer.

That doesn't *help* Intel in Q2, but it *hurts* AMD in Q2 (good PR for Intel), and *helps* Intel in Q3, when all that pent-up enthusiast desktop demand is there to absorb Conroe supply.

See?
