I don't think you are ever going to get what you want. This is one of those issues in which the probable outcomes are anywhere from very bad to catastrophic but it's hard to say when and/or where. One of the interesting short bits in Kolbert's book is a section on the Netherlands. She pictures efforts to move from getting additional land from the ocean and/or rivers to giving it back, building floating houses. In short, preparing for a radical change in sea levels. Where I think we disagree is that I see the change necessary is a consciousness change which will in turn offer room for specific political and cultural changes. I don't see enough worry out there yet. Apparently, you either see too much or not focused enough.
