Have you checked the real estate prices in Escondido lately?

I guess my California relatives will forgive me. I can't stand the place, except the Sierras. And that's without the people.

I am reliably informed that I meant Allentown [by somebody who grew up in Pittsburgh, which is not all that far away], not Allendale, which is true. I hasten to add I have nothing against Allentown and I'm sure very nice people live there. Some of my best friends would be happy to live in Allentown [though not somebody who was offered an actual job there].

Many people who live in California think it is perfect. Oddly, many Hollywood movie stars live in Virginia, in what is called "the horse country," I suppose because they have horses.

Virginia has something California does not, real seasons. Four of them. Five, if you count Indian Summer.

Having grown up in Louisiana, which only has three seasons (true winter only lasts a week or two, summer lasts six or seven months), I find I quite like having four (or five) real seasons.
