Was reading an email from a buddy of mine who's still in Iraq. They guy has some fascinating insights, as well as some funny stories to go with them. Hope he writes a book someday.

But I thought I might share this with y'all:

The other night we became aware of gunfire in a particular
neighborhood. We watched a man being dragged by a group of citizens to where the
Neighborhood Watch had set up their command post.

It appears that he was drunk and had taken to shooting up the
neighborhood stores with his AK-47. We watched as his friends and neighbors
took turns beating and kicking him. Then, he was pulled, staggering along
to a nearby police station where they turned him in.

He'll get a stern warning and maybe a few days in jail. But his
community took the opportunity to beat the crap out of him first before he
was given to the police.

And justice was served!

"proactive programs aimed at restoring the ocean's capabilities to deal with excess CO2"

That's a good thing; could help mitigate.

"My "agenda" is NOT TO WAIT until we're able to alter the attitudes of BILLIONS OF PEOPLE,"
Don't need to alter billions of people; only about 10,000 Americans. The rest will follow.

"My "agenda" is to avoid this "Luddism" that seems to permeate the enviromental community. "

That's not. Maybe don't see it as Luddism. See it as a new industry. People say "It will cost blooopity bloop dollars to deal with this." Well, yeah, but we aren't burning the money. just going to somebody else. Maybe a German windmill manufacturer 'cuz we didn't build the infrastructure. Maybe a Japanese car. It wouldn't have been Luddism to create an alt en. infrastructure here.
But, I'm afraid the planet has been pushed beyond its ability to naturally compensate in the short term, which is where we are living. I don't particularly care that it will correct itself in a million years. Won't do my kids and granddaughter any good.
So, until good sequestration methods are discovered,it would behoove us to head towards a more CO2 neutral world.
And, if we don't start making infrastructure changes here, somebody will be glad to sell us something to help. If they will still take dollars.
