JFK was a fine President, I agree...he stared Nikita down and the world breathed a sigh of relief as the Russian ships did a U-turn. I'm not so sure about the remaining family. Ted is definitely far too liberal...his bro would never support Ted's extreme brand of liberal politics. Democrats like Truman & JFK were closer to Repubs than today's far left Dems. As far as the assasinations, yes some TX good ole' boys wanted Lyndon Johnson in the WH. At the time there was still extreme religious prejudice, especially in the south. However, Robert's killer was merely a lunatic...nothing sinister...unless the mafia finally got to him via the lunatic. Churchill was a shrewd observer of human nature when he said "if a person is not a liberal in their 20s they have no heart. but if that person is still a liberal in their 40s--they have no head." Today's Dems pander to gays, blacks & illegals(with a very small faction of traditional FDR Dems among their numbers); while today's Repubs have definitely split between those obsessed with globalization greed and salt of the earth, average American Repubs who want the land their ancestors built with blood, sweat & tears to be preserved for future generations.
