Joe, yep. That and a lot of marketing. :) It's the equivalent of existing 2S workstation boards, except you can use unbuffered memory.

I think what the vast majority has missed is probably the ultimate flexibility of this extra socket...its sort of looking at un-lit fireworks....not impressive until you set it off...;>)

So far, that seems to be the case. The only surprise seems to be that AM2 supports this, instead of being server/workstation only.

Actually, for a gamer, an interesting aspect is to get a fast-clocked single core with a motherboard like this. Then, when more games support dual core, buy a second.
