Yellowstone park sits over a massive field of lava (about the size of Arizona) that, when it last erupted (about 600 years ago) it dumped 3 feet of ash up to 1200 miles away. It was thought to be an extinct volcano, but lately a magma dome is forming that has shifted some of the lakes to the east. Trees on the east side of the lake that used to be on dry land are now sitting in water. Core samples shows that this super-volcano erupts every 600-800 years.
