A couple of things to note in the SIA release. One, the data used in the press release is based on 3 month rolling averages. Obviously, this is a reasonable way to do it to smooth out more volatile individual monthly data, but it also gives a "picture" that is not as detailed as the individual monthly data.

Secondly, the data is compiled on a 4 week, 4 week, and 5 week monthly data compilation to make up the 13 week quarter. Therefore, Mar, Jun, Sep, and Dec are 5 week months and the rest are 4 week months. This 4 week/5 week effect can be seen by looking at the data in
