I am looking forward to watching the Tigers and Sox square off this week. Will the stands rock with the chant O...E...O...Magglio? Probably not. Will Ordonez and Guillen hug? Probably not. The fans did give Frank Thomas a well deserved ovation when he came back. I still check the box scores every day to see what Frank did.

I have always liked Jim Leyland. Did you know that Leyland's first major league coaching job was with the White Sox and Tony LaRussa in the early 80s? Every time there has been a White Sox managing vacancy, Leyland was rumored to be a candidate. Unfortunately, he was usually employed elsewhere. Like everyone else, I assumed that he had retired for good when he left Colorado.

Dave Dombrowski is also a class act. I remember the shock when he left the Sox and went to Florida. A good move on his part.

If the Sox don't win it this year, I would like to see the Tigers take it.

BTW, we are blessed with some excellent sports columnists in Chicago. Its great to live in a two paper town. Nobody beat Sam Smith on basketball.
