<Of course it helps. If it was able to think and to reason out the outcome of procreation it would (of course) have created something a bit better than a bone spur!!>

That's quite presumptuous. Scientists would love to know that as a certainty... but they don't.

<That is my point. The ability to survive from an evolutionary perspective is neither smart nor stupid. These are qualities that reference mental agility and rational self interest.>

Well, that is the big question. At what level is there concious/aware/intelligent decisions being made???

<Consciousness is a consequence of biology so it flows from biological fitness. >

I what way???

<Humans are able to pass on information in other than genetic ways-->

TigerPaw disagrees... although when pressed he then sort of stops commenting, so I don't know if there is solid scientific evidence for that, or if it's just been presumed. Lately there does seem to be evidence that learned traits can be incorperated into the genome and genes can be 'shared' so to speak. I don't know if that's what you mean, or if there is other ways of passing information??

<But neither am I asserting that it denotes intelligence. That would be an extraordinary claim for which there is no scientific evidence.>

One of the things that keeps coming up is intelligence... is there an accepted level of evolution where animals exibit intelligence??? I mean anyone with a Dog would say it's intelligent. At what level do animals/plants/life exhibit intelligence? Didn't Darwin admit that worms exhibited intelligence??
