No, the rich in this country pay a pittance compared to any other developed country. The fact is we cannot afford the huge military and all the other things the government must pay for unless the rich pay more than they are paying now. Clinton had a nice balance.

Quit defending those who don't need defending. The workingclass pay most of the taxes, and they get them taken out of their paychecks upfront. Also, the rich have oodles of different kinds of tax breaks they can take full advantage of.

The book "Perfectly Legal" shows how the Bush tax code only benefits those who make 500 K or more a year. If you're under that, they're taking from you, not giving to you. Also, Bushies have shifted the debt load about 3% onto the backs of the middleclass off the backs of the rich. It may not sound like much but you're talking hundreds of billions.

I would also remind you that Bush is the biggest spending president in history so it's not like he balanced tax cuts with spending cuts. And the only suggestions for spending cuts he ever has are cutting services in the most needy areas. Corporate welfare he never touches. And he refuses to even discuss raising taxes on Bill Gates.
