We are supporing a democratic state that has a concentration of jewish folks within its borders and is looking to keep a jewish majority within those borders. Just like us with the mexican illegals.

That issue has long bothered me as well, but I'm finally to the point that I accept culture and heritage as important human social constraints, and ethnicity and religion are part of that.

It's entirely possible to have distinct culture and heritage without having it mandated in law. There are plenty of unique cultures living happily together (sometimes) in the USA, including satisfied Jewish people, some of them extremely othrodox. The problems arise when the state legislates based on ethnicity, because the ones who are not in the ethnic group become institutionally discriminated against.

What I dislike with American support of Israel on this is the lack of admission that we are supporting an ethnic state

It is pretty amazing how criticism of Israel is extremely limited in US media. I can't recall ever hearing on TV some of the criticisms that I voice in these forums.
