Thanks for the input. As to which is more attractive at present, flash or HDD, depends on the application it seems. Flash is small, rugged, but expensive per gigabyte. HDD has large capacity, is much cheaper per gig, but is physically larger and more subject to shock damage (from dropping, etc.). I was pondering whether, as time goes by, HDD will be able to sustain market share against flash in commodities other than the pc, and sell in new markets perhaps unimagined at present. If HDD can do this, then it seems to me that STX, WDC and others sell at an attractive multiple at present.
