You are exactly correct. Partisans say just as much by what they do not say as by what they say. It is much like Kenneth who takes joy in asking how the market is doing on a day it drops but never asks when it goes up. He is not at all interested in the market, he is interested in an agenda.

Orca was the same today with what he did not say. Allen's comment was incorrect.

>>Tonto correctly notes that there is no apparent joy in Orca over this news. Orca is as disheartened as ever. Tonto may incorrectly presume some unhappiness not stated outright, but the evidence from the post he responds to makes it a reasonable possibility, at the least.

So Zarqawis death is a cause of hope for you. So it seems. Good.<<

Dan -

I have some hope that Zarqawi's death may help the situation in some ways. I have no grief over Zarqawi's passing, because I think he was a murderous zealot who got what he was asking for. On the other hand, I couldn't claim to have any joy over it. I mean, I think it's good news, but I don't find it joyful.

Unfortunately, I think the Bush Administration will probably continue to make a bunch of ham-handed mistakes in foreign policy, which will continue to alienate people around the world. Ultimately, if Iraq somehow manages to pull itself out of this mess, it will be a miracle, and credit will not be due to Bush.

Thus, I am not joyful over this news, either.
