Another good call, Bruce. Do you smell a rematch or a possible third Taylor fight? Or will Hopkins actually hang it up?

Was it an overly defensive match or did Hopkins go right at him? I am looking forward to seeing the replay.

Great pick Bruce. I had this one wrong: I was strongly hoping for Hopkins while betting that Tarver, as the naturally bigger man with the longer reach...and seeing how he swarmed Roy Jones in their first outing...would win by decision. Tarver looked listless and impotent, as if he couldn't have cared less about the outcome of the fight; in fact, the Hopkins that fought Trinidad would, in my opinion, likely have stopped him in the later rounds of last night's bout.

Since he's now talking seriously about retirement, it's a shame that Hopkins' legacy will be marred by his having two losses to Taylor - losses which in my view were more accurately a draw in the first fight and a fairly decisive win by Hopkins in the second. Perhaps a rubber match with Jermaine Taylor is in the offing following this victory, as his comments with HBO's Larry Merchant seemed to hint at.

As an aside, I was at a particular casino yesterday and said hello to Freddie Roach and a few other boxing notables I ran into. Later in the afternoon Michael Jordan came into the HR area to play blackjack...in the neighborhood of $25,000 per hand.
