Common descent means all life is descended from a common ancestor. As to whether the changes along the way were just accidents or divinely produced is another question. I can believe in God and accidents, both. The fact that there is supreme being doesn't mean our being here is not a set of flukes. Sure if you think God is a disinterested and powerless bystander. Don't know why anyone would concieve of such a God. Now, what about smoking causing cancer? I certainly think so. Do you believe we walked on the moon? Not you or me, but some other folks did. Is the earth round or flat? Round, sort of. Now, did Diebold steal the last two elections for Bush? Did neocons or the Bush administration plan the 911 attack? Are America and Israel the root of all evil in the world (or virtually all)?
