niceguy,

Those price cuts were inevitable response to Intel price cuts. AMD has probably waited too long with them.

Does anybody remember (about 3 months ago) when Intel started cutting the prices heavily? At about the same time, AMD increased prices of X2s slightly. I did not like that stunt one bit. AMD should have, instead, cut prices half way between what they were at that time and what they will be on July 24.

It reminded me too much of Jerry Sanders comments about pigs fighting in the mud (as a prelude to AMD crushing and burning).

AMD should have just humbly moved forward in pricing to accommodate loyal AMD customers. Instead, AMD decided to insult them (at least those who pay list prices).
