Tech Report seems to have confirmed it. The AM2 4000+, 4400+ and 4800+ are supposed to be EOL by the end of Q2 and will have a life span of under six weeks.

@Joe - 2x1MB
"
That would certainly suck, if true. I was thinking about 4800 after the price cuts...
"

I really don't know what AGAIN and AGAIN some posters want
to show. F-Steps DIEs are BIG and 2x1MB DIEs are way too big
to ramp to x Mio. units per quarter and speed isn't that
much more compared to 2x512kb versions ... so, when 65nm is
finally available, ALL will change, up to date we are capa-
city constraint, thats all.
BTW: why not buying an Opteron instead. Just look for 175/180/185.
Works in ALL boards - where is your problem?

As an upgrade on 939 or as a new system on AM2?

I'm looking forward to buying leftover 1MB cache 939 parts which should drop in price no matter what happens going forward with AM2 parts.
