You're right about that DMA. Bush's SS idea was to let people put their retirement into the stock market which would be a disaster for the people.

Although things got markedly better today, the last 6 weeks of the stock market should put an end to individual accounts to be invested in the market in lieu of SS. I am in favor of a pension type approach where top managers are selected to manage money in a fiduciary positive manner. Those of us "smart" folks already have enough trouble with Mr. Market.

You are being unfair. Bush PERSONALLY and I AGREE believed privatization was the way to go, but in any event HE PLEADED with Congress to address the problem and bring something to his desk, THEY NEVER DID. Bush is THE ONLY PRESIDENT with the gonads necessary to EVEN BRING IT UP. jdn
