In the long run I don't think this ruling will make much difference for law-abiding citizens.

Incredible that you say this.. Same arguments used by these morons, whether it is wire tapping your phone or spying on you.. gradual giving away of your rights while every one says, if you are law abiding it does not make a difference..

This case wasn't about crashing in the door. It was about knocking first and giving you time to answer. Crashing in the door isn't being challenged, I don't think.

From the NYT article: "In the case, the Detroit police had a warrant to search for drugs in the home of Booker T. Hudson Jr. At his unlocked door, they announced their presence, but did not knock and waited only three to five seconds before entering, not the 15 to 20 seconds suggested by the Supreme Court's precedents."
