That's why I don't think much can be done in a country with lots of guns already. I found the UK, Netherlands, Botswana and Mauritius were much safer compared to the US, South Africa, Lesotho, Croatia and Bosnia.

I have no idea if that correlation applies worldwide but I suspect it does. IOW, honest people don't need to be armed if very few bad guys are.

That may have been true for the specific counties you live in, but overall its closer to being the opposite.

Tim, a couple of problems with this post. First, Dale was referring to countries, not counties. An easy mistake to make.

But, second, two of the four are from John Lott, whose research skills have been severely criticized; one is simply a public relations release; and one is a comparison of two counties which may well have been sample to reach that conclusion.
