Thames, context matters. We talk mostly US politics here so we use scales in that context. On a US scale, Pelosi is pretty far left. Not that we don't have moonbats to the left of her. Or that there aren't positions way further to the left outside the US, but common terminology in the US would call her "left." She's on the left side of the Democratic Party. What the Greens do in Germany or the Socialists in Italy is outside the frame of reference.

Some of the terms and ideas would still apply even if to a lesser degree, others would not. (Then again some of the terms, like "statist" could be applied to a number of Republicans as well)
