As I said, I've got no problem with relative left and right.

It's when the relative left of the US position is conflated with the policies common to the international 'left' that I get annoyed. It may be from ignorance, but IMO more often it's a deliberate smear and attempt to confuse the issue, associating politicians with pretty unremarkable views with the more extreme let in other countries.

I don't know Pelosi's politics, but I doubt that she favours many true left policies. Listing a few follies...
State ownership of industry & control of commerce? Increased if not compulsory unionisation? Punitive taxation, especially on unearned (e.g. dividend) income? Greatly expanded state social care? Restrictions on capitalism, including share ownership, M&A and so on? Restrictions on private ownership of companies particularly in strategic industries, and state ownership and control of mass media?
