The right's response: you unpatriotic weak kneed slob, you have a duty to support the war. That's hate speech. Which part in that sentence is "hate"? Slob? Your sentence above is a normal expression of opinion, it's not hate speech. Hate speech is along the lines of "Kill the nigger!" or "The only good gay is a dead gay.". Hate speech requires expression of malice against a person or group for no reason other than they are of a certain type or in a certain group.
