I think the discussion is about the consequences of printing money as strictly notes of exchange on a Government promise as contrasted with money backed by tangible assets (corn, pebbles, peanuts, gold, etc.). I don't think anyone doubts that the wheelbarrows full of paper that the Germans wheeled down for loaves of bread were anything other than "money".

Please don't doubt that I believe that paper legally designated as money is indeed money. We have no disagreement there. But what Treasury policies best serve either the interests of Americans or the ethics of our planet are perhaps considerations more condign to the discussion...
