I think your better point is that socialism cannot survive without coercion and that means loss of freedom. So the same folks who make such a big deal of the data mining for terrorists will not hesitate to take our freedoms to any extent that advances their socialist agenda. Will

The reason that small businesses are such a fearsome threat to the liberal/leftist/socialist/democrat establishment is because people who have started and run their own business have confidence in themselves. You need look no further than the non-debate about global warming to see this in action. Leftists all fall into line on this because they have created the impression that it is the majority opinion, and leftists cannot allow minority rights to threaten their dominance.
