Appreciate those comments Euterpe. I think we are all some mutant form of political life, especially compared to what one might see on many blogs, or in the MSM for that matter. And that includes left, right and in the middle, if there is such a thing.

The paper than Santorum has had been so heavily censored that of course, it makes no sense to the average person viewing in the windows....There are arguments today to get the papers to be less censored so we can see exactly what is, and has been, the situation.

The thought that these censored papers are correct, is even stronger for me, as they haven't been "leaked" by anyone as yet....and heaven only knows, they would already have been if some of the 'know-it-alls' had thought there was anything politically to gain over the Administration. Perversely, that leads me to think there is more to the story than we know now.

But what we know so far, as of today, is that many in the media and on the 'protesting anything' lines is that many kept (and continue) saying "Bush Lied", etc.

The same folks who espouse that idea, are decidedly quiet today when it turns out there were WMD found in Iraq that Saddam DID NOT declare to the UN, and DID NOT get rid of.....

and evidently many more containers of deadly chemicals were found than it took for him to gas all the 5,000+ Kurds that he did in the 1990's....

Another thing to think about is that if we hadn't gone into Iraq, and continued to allow Saddam to fund the murdering barbarians, those same folks today would have control of the 2nd largest oil fields in the world, and would have the complete funding needed to cause terrorism of major scale anyplace in the world.

Euterpe,

What do you think of the new plan that Kerry and Murfa have to win the WOT, you know, use the same strategy as was used in the last war they fought in (Nam), ie redeploying the troops to a neutral site such as say Saipan or say Okinawa or maybe even California or Hawaii?

I am wondering if they are thinking that this plan would work out similarly as the other one did. IE given the similarities between USA/VietNam and USA/Iraq wars would the ensuing peace result in similarities between say VietNam/Cambodia and Iraq/Iran. Would this be viewed as a positive development? Does this factor in Kerry/Murfa's plan? Have you seen any reports of their plan regarding the ensuing peace other than ensuring the safety of our soldiers, ie do they have any expectations for the rest of the participants and surrounding countries. I think if their only consideration is the safety of our soldiers it might be better to redeploy to Waikiki vs Okinawa.

Also, as a moderate what is your historical perspective as regards Tet, was it a positive development or a turning point? Is this taught in school these days? I have personally had many past beliefs challenged recently and am finding that history shall we say is a challenging subject. I recently met a very bright man from Chile who was involved in the Allende era, who said that his personal involvement clouded his historical perspective on the matter, and felt that a more objective opinion was necessary in order to correctly report the events of the day. He was very proud and optimistic for his native land.

Not doing Santorum much good, apparently, his approval rating has cratered to 38%, while the voting poll breaks down 52% Casey, 34% Santorum. Yikes for an incumbent.
