Here's another angle on this question. Why is it that we assume that it's going to be costly and ineffective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions?


It may well be possible to put on filters that reduce carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels; but these carbon emissions play so small a part in increased greenhouse gases that even if it accomplished, it is quite likely to be ineffective at changing the course of global warming.

Your examples regarding catalytic converters were reducing pollution; that is immediate and measurable.
