Srexley, There may be a book on the history of the Wintu tribe. I knew a person that was in a movie that was shot close to Mt. Shasta, and he sent me a book on the history of the tribe that was living there before the Spaniards came to California, but I have moved several times and lost that book, and do not remember the name of the tribe. If you can find a nearby pow wow, there will be plenty of people that are eager to tell you of their history.

The first pow wow I went to was in Fallon,NV which also had an indian rodeo along with it. I sat down at a table close to a wrinkled old lady of the Washoe tribe, and we talked for at least 2 hours. The other two tribes in that area are the Paiutes and Southern Shoshone.

Money can cause problems in any society. In some cases I have heard of, there have been people that have joined tribes claiming to be one of them, but were just hanger ons. I can understand them being kicked out of the tribe, but some of the tactics for one faction to get the money instead of another, is causing some trouble and ultimately will have to be controlled by the tribal council with all tribe members having a vote.
