If the US provides nuke weapons to another country, it is in violation of the NPT, of which the US is a signatory.

Witness the noise about civilian nuke co-operation between India and US, being debated in Congress...

Oh.. we don't need to "arm" the Japanese with nukes. They are perfectly capable of producing them on their own, should they opt to rescind their NPT status.

And they have the rocket technology to put them squarely on target.

And boy o' boy.. wouldn't it just THRILL Bejing to see Japan become a member of the nuclear club?

Btw, here's an interesting opinion article on Murtha's recent comments:

opinionjournal.com

Mr. Murtha has been sticking his foot in his mouth a lot lately. He accused Marines in Iraq of murdering civilians "in cold blood," contradicted himself in the same breath by saying they had "overreacted," and asserted that higher-ups covered up the purported crime without backing his statements up. He told a startled Tim Russert of NBC that U.S. troops withdrawn from Iraq could be "redeployed" to Okinawa, Japan, whence they could return "very quickly" to Baghdad--which is 4,899 miles away. And more than once he has offered these examples of presidential leadership: "In Beirut, President Reagan changed direction. In Somalia, President Clinton changed direction."

I guess I can now see why he never made General in the Marines.

Japan is still a non-repentant WW2 aggressor (unlike germany) and your hubby is about as big a whack job as you in suggesting this. By the way Japanese could have nuke weapons anytime they want all by themselves. It is a blessing that a country that collectively believes WW2 was started by the US nuking of Hiroshima, stays nuke free. You and and hubby should retreat into Uncleclueless bomb shelter and compare notes.

>>" My hubby said before this article came out that we ought to arm the Japanese with nukes, and watch and listen to the screaming then.... "<<

Your "hubby" is married to a silly twit...says something about him.
