The U.S. has been immune from terrorism because of our location on the planet. Oh?? We can't even keep millions of illegal aliens out of our country, so what makes you think our geography prevents terrorists from entering... No.. it's something else other than geography... After all, geography didn't protect us from 9/11.. And it didn't protect the UK from suffering their own bombings. If a car bomb was going off on your street 3 times a day you might consider things differently. Do you think it's any different for the average Iraqi?? Do you think that the suicide bombings there are increasing the strength of the Islamo-Fascist movements when they are killing fellow Muslims? We have to start recognizing the rest of the world before it actually gets here and we don't have ANY choice. Uh... recognizing the problems in the rest of the world, and then sitting on our @sses and not doing anything to confront the problem (or to resolve and reform them) is no solution. We've known about the rising tide of Islamo-Fascism for over a decade. The previous administration had 8 years to recognize the problem and deal with it forcefully. But under the circumstances, I guess what could we do until we had the "casus belli" of 9/11 to justify our confrontration of Islamo-Fascism WHEREVER it might exist. Hawk

"The U.S. has been immune from terrorism because of our location on the planet." There's another reason. The US in the 20th century built the strongest middle class on the planet. So much so that you could say America IS it's middle class. Everyone that wanted to put out the effort could own a house, a car, and have a family with the real hope that thier kids would do better than they did. That wonder is changing before our eyes as income disparity grows between the classes in America.
