I agree with you Hawk and i would act the same. But when we do, we need to recognize that doing this for the public good might leave us exposed to civil/criminal charges down the road. In a sense its just like civil disobedience. When you break the law, you must pay the consequences. As far as torture knowing this separates the Jack Bauers from the sadists at Abu Ghraib.
So if you torture a guy and prevent another 9/11 and you later get convicted and sent to jail, I will come visit and i hope you will do the same for me.

<<Not sure about the legality in such cases>>

That's easy....there is no law that permits torture, thank God. Why do you think Cheney was lobbying so hard for the change?!?

You can go google and find out for yourself numerous reports that prove the ineffectiveness of the practice....I'll spare you and everyone else posting a slew of links. However I will paste one thing.......

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Article 5....

"No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."

If you become a monster to fight the monster, you've effectively lost the battle. To call yourself Christian and to condone any form of torture, no matter what circumstance you dream up, is by it's own course a true definition of hypocrisy.
