I mostly agree with your POV on this Rich. The tactics used by the MSM & the New York Slimes specifically are way over the line. This is not the first time they have harmed National Security by publicly exposing illegal classified information that aided & abetted the enemy while we were at war.

However, I do believe that Andrew McCarthy made some very salient points. This is a situation where winning is critical. To lose is to forever open a can of worms that will make them an extremely powerful, unelected branch of government. It will free them to undermine every Republican President with impunity.

I know, I know, they are doing that now. But if they are prosecuted & the government loses the case, it will be substantially worse. If you think the treachery of the MSM is out of control now, imagine what it would be like with a Supreme Court ruling in their favor.

If you read the whole article, Andrew McCarthy does want the leakers prosecuted & the journalists forced to reveal them or sent to jail. I want to see the NYT itself prosecuted, but not if the government can't apply existing laws in a fashion that will ensure a successful prosecution. In that case they should go with what Andrew McCarthy suggested, then have Congress tighten up new laws that would allow the government to go after all future acts of treason by the leftist MSM.
