I couldn't see the video at all.

It worked fine in windows media player 9 - see he is already a slave to the SYSTEM - hehe :) Do you have wmp9 installed?

But I get the impression he pretty much agrees with you that because of these big trading operators with all their fast big computers no computationally less intensive methods will make any money.

Are you putting words in my mouth? :P From what I saw he has a news component to his predictions - like he said he thinks he is already ahead of the big boys.

A good algorithm on a small pc can beat a poor algorithm on a more powerful one - is john henry that much better than the teams of people against him?

Here was a recent slashdot article on free online university education MOO - they have algorithm courses too - now why am I gonna pay YOU to get educated on your time schedule when I can do it at my time schedule for FREE? Tenure probably isn't the saving grace you think it is if the BUDGET goes eh? IBM never laid off anyone until they did - hehe.

I just don't see the little guy without all the money and peers behind him making a much more efficient predictive algorithm like the big boys can. Take the space race of the past few decades - it took big budgets and big enterprises/governments to make the progress - where was HG Wells little cannon fired rocket on the far side of the moon? You are trying to get me to suspend my experience and believe it would have been possible for one lone john henry to make a rocket to go to the moon and not the resources of entire nations - it just doesn't work that way in the real world.

Why didn't some guy with his john henry ingenuity already get this done? He could have went long/short energy stocks based on CME's - why let the big boys get rich?

Supercomputer Models Sun's Corona Dynamics

"Researchers from San Diego are using supercomputers to accurately predict the shape of the Sun's corona, based on magnetic field data from the photosphere. It is hoped that this model will enable us to predict Coronal Mass Ejections. When CMEs reach the Earth, they produce geomagnetic storms and can wreak havoc with communcations, GPS, and power networks. In the decade or so, the researchers hope to be able to predict CME collisions with the Earth and determine their impact."

Moo I love Captain Nemo - but he is fiction no? Real sub commanders couldn't do that solo.
