No, it doesn't work with me, either. A felon is a felon. Period.

It doesn't surprise me much, though, that Kerry and Clinton are trying to increase their voter base in prisons.

I think one can make a reasonable, legitimate case for felons having the right to vote independent of any benefits it might bring to one's party. I don't presume to suggest that that's what's happening here, only that I think it's too much to dismiss it out of hand as mercenary vote gathering. It could be at least in part legitimate.
