If you ever catch the Repugnicans act live on CSPAN (which very few Americans do), you'll see Democrats calling the Repugnicans on that frequently on the floor of the House and Senate. Being out of power, and with the Repugnicans rules not giving them any voice other than paying lip service for the record, they are ignored. The press ignores them too, other than an occasional article on the deficit.
