"because the truth is that it's the rich who are forced to give "gifts" to the government. Why?"

Because they benefit an awful lot from having a stable country, with a good and honest police force, a good economy a strong military. All those government grants that fuel our technology doesn't hurt either. In addition, the bulk of the legal system is concerned with corporate law, and that system makes sure the business environment is more or less honest, which is of huge importance to the rich. Does it make much difference to a janitor if his company is honest? As long as he gets a check every week, no. If the company gets bought out through crooked means, they still need the floors buffed and trash cans emptied.

Don't kid yourself that the rich benefit less from the system. Or even equally. The system helps them an awful lot.

CJ, The top 20 percent has been very open about what they want from Congress, and they have been getting it.

The top 25% of Americans pay 84% of the taxes. I love this "gift to the rich" stuff, because the truth is that it's the rich who are forced to give "gifts" to the government.

What gifts are you referring? They pay taxes. Some of the lowest taxes in the world. They have nothing about which to complain.

Why? Well duh, because they're rich.

Of course. There is a price to laissez-faire. Why do you continue to defend the rich? I will never understand......they could care less about you.

Meanwhile, when the liberal elite calls for 80% of Americans to ask what their country can do for them, of course they really mean, "What can the richest 20% of Americans do for everyone else?"

Dude, how many rich kids do you think are fighting in Iraq? I'll tell you.......nada. It's some of the poorest progeny who are doing the dirty work of the rich GOP elite in this country. You are very fortunate that the American system ensures that some will always be poor........otherwise, you would have no one to fight your wars.

There will always be someone richer than yourself, and there will always be someone poorer than yourself.

You are talking lower middle, middle middle and upper middle class. The tax cuts were not for them. They were for the rich elite in this country who are roughly ten percent of the population...........their power and wealth grow with each passing year. We are looking more and more like Russia.......a nation of oligarchs. Again, why do you defend them?
