Try thinking of it like physicists think of quantum mechanics. You can have an idea and an object represented by the idea. If you remove idea from object you are left with, huh? If you remove the object you can have no idea of it. So the idea is neither the object nor not the object. Similarly with your discussion on mind and brain. Mind implies conscious awareness which involves brain power. Without brain you can have no awareness. Without awareness the brain has no consciousness. Consciousness of the Universe is not the universe. Nor does the universe have meaning without consciousness. If you take away the Universe there can be no consciousness. They both exist as inseparably as the wave and particle of an electron.
